Superintendent shaking hands with Tarleton President

FLORESVILLE - As part of their continued and ongoing partnership, the Floresville Independent School District and Tarleton State University are collaborating on a new program that will help build a bridge to academic success. The Distinguished High School Partnership Program furthers the educational mission of each institution, ensuring higher educational opportunities for students.

Through the program, Tarleton will grant automatic admission to students who graduate from FISD within the top 50% of their respective classes, waive the admissions application fee for all FISD students who meet the criteria to receive a waiver, and award $1,000 above the Guaranteed Scholarship Program level for which students qualify if they ranked in the top 10% of their graduating class or $500 if the student is ranked in the top 50% of their graduating class. The University will also expedite processing to apply up to 36 hours of technical/vocational credits earned toward the desired and approved degree program for FISD graduates who have completed an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree while attending FISD.

Furthermore, the Distinguished High School Partnership Program will allow for Tarleton to provide ongoing support at FISD, such as financial aid, admissions, degree counseling, work study mentorships, and peer mentoring, among others.

The program is in effect for the Floresville ISD 2023-2024 school year, and will renew automatically for up to four successive annual terms.
